Will it Omarchy?Compatibility Forecast and Directive

Edition

A compatibility forecast for every Intel Mac configuration that counts toward coverage on doesitomarchy.com. For each one: how likely stock Omarchy is to boot into Hyprland, to get through daily use without a significant problem, and to drive every piece of hardware.

For authorized personnel only.

These are predictions, not test results. They come from hardware facts, Omarchy's own installer code, Linux logs from real Macs and community reports. On doesitomarchy.com every configuration stays Untested until someone runs it and reports back. Have one of these Macs? Identify it and send a result.

Boot? Compatibility DivisionLogo grid00

The mark

The wordmark is drawn on a 100-unit cap height with a 20-unit stroke. Corners take a 26-unit radius. The second O carries the teardrop counter. The mark is never redrawn, condensed or recoloured.

Construction

Square counters, rounded outer corners, one stroke weight throughout.

Zone of exclusion

Keep one cap height clear on every side of the emblem.

Incorrect usage

Stretching, outlining or recolouring the mark is not permitted.

Boot? Compatibility DivisionOrientation01

Orientation

Three questions, each harder than the last. Each score includes the ones before it.

1Boots

Does it install and boot into Hyprland on Wayland?

2Smooth

…and get through daily use with no significant issue: graphics, Wi-Fi, speakers, keyboard and trackpad, sleep, battery, fans, no boot parameters needed?

3Complete

…and does every part work: camera, Bluetooth, mic, SD reader, Thunderbolt, IR, Touch Bar, Touch ID, brightness keys?

A Mac can't be more likely to run smoothly than to boot. Baseline: a fresh install from the current Omarchy ISO (4.x, October 2026), with nothing added by hand, on a healthy Mac with its factory parts.

      Boot? Compatibility DivisionMethodology06

      Methodology

How the forecast is made, and how to read it.

      Factors

      • Every configuration's GPU, parts and features come from the doesitomarchy catalog.
      • Each factor gets a probability that it works out of the box, with a written reason and its sources. Open any row to read them.
      • GPUs are rated by the driver Omarchy actually ends up using. Every NVIDIA GPU in an Intel Mac falls through to nouveau, for example.

      Evidence

        Combining

        • Boots multiplies the platform, storage and graphics factors. Smooth multiplies in the daily-use factors, Complete the rest.
        • A little slack for unknown problems is applied at each step.
        • Bands: Very likely ≥ 85%, Likely ≥ 65%, Toss-up ≥ 40%, Unlikely ≥ 15%, Very unlikely below that.

        Read it with care

        • Linux logs and GitHub threads come from people who met problems, so they lean pessimistic.
        • Factors are treated as independent, which understates the best-supported Macs a little, mostly on Complete.
        • Omarchy changes weekly. Several fixes behind these scores are open pull requests, and a merged fix moves a score.
